Nissan Engines We Carry
Here's the range, from track builds to daily drivers:
SR20DET — the 2.0L turbo four from the Silvia, 180SX and Pulsar GTiR, and the go-to 240SX swap. More on this one below.
RB26DETT — the twin-turbo inline-6 from the Skyline GT-R R32, R33 and R34. One of the most requested engines we source. Our Nissan RB engine guide covers how it compares to the RB20 and RB25.
RB25DET NEO — the 6-port version found in the R34 Skyline GTT and Stagea. A strong upgrade path for RB20 swaps.
CA18DET — the early S13 engine. Parts are getting harder to find, so grab one while stock lasts.
VG30DETT — the twin-turbo 3.0L V6 from the Z32 300ZX. A strong motor with a loyal following.
VQ35DE — the V6 that runs the 350Z, G35, Murano and Altima. On the shelf now in RWD, FWD and AWD configurations. See our VQ35DE engine guide for specs and swap basics.
VQ35HR / VQ37VHR — the high-rev versions in the 370Z, G37, M37 and Q50. In stock.
VQ40DE — the 4.0L V6 for the Pathfinder, Xterra, Frontier and NV vans.
KA24DE — the 240SX and Hardbody staple. Great for budget builds and drift setups.
QR25DE — the 2.5L four for later Altima, Sentra and Rogue owners.
MR20DE / MR18DE / MR16DDT — the small-displacement fours for the Sentra, Versa, Cube, NV200 and Juke.
VG33E — the 3.3L V6 for the Frontier, Xterra, Pathfinder and QX4.
The turbo swap engines above are sourced to order rather than kept on the shelf year-round. Ask us and we'll tell you what's landing next.
JDM SR20DET Engines for Sale
The SR20DET is the engine we field the most calls about, so it's worth covering properly. It's a 2.0L DOHC turbo four built for RWD chassis, and it's a favorite among drift builders. We source both S13 redtop and S14 blacktop versions.
S13 Redtop SR20DET Engines
The S13 redtop SR20DET came out of the early Silvia and 180SX. It's known for its punchy turbo response and simple wiring. A lot of builders like the redtop because it's lighter and easier to tune on a budget.
S14 Blacktop SR20DET Engines
The S14 blacktop SR20DET followed the redtop and brought a few upgrades, including a bigger turbo and revised internals. It tends to handle more power before you need to touch the internals. If you're planning a higher horsepower build, this might be the better starting point.
Redtop vs Blacktop SR20DET: Which Should You Buy?
This comes up a lot, so let's break it down simply.
The redtop is older, lighter, and a bit easier on the wallet. It's a solid pick if you want a reliable base for moderate power. The blacktop runs a larger turbo and slightly different fueling, so it generally makes more power out of the box and has more headroom for future upgrades.
Neither one is wrong. It really depends on your budget and how much power you're chasing. If you're not sure, give us a call and we'll help you figure out which one fits your build.
Which Cars Came With the SR20DET?
The SR20DET came factory-installed in the Nissan Silvia (S13, S14, S15), the 180SX, and the Pulsar GTiR. It was never sold in the US-spec 240SX, which shipped with a KA24, so most American SR20DET swaps come from imported Silvia or 180SX donor engines. That's exactly what we source.
Weighing the swap against keeping your factory motor? Our KA24DE guide and the KA vs SR debate walks through both sides.
SR20DET Specs, Horsepower & Weight
The SR20DET is a 2.0L inline four, DOHC, with a factory turbocharger. Stock horsepower sits around 205 to 250 hp, depending on the year and variant. With some basic bolt-on upgrades, many builders push well past that.
Weight is part of the appeal too. It's a compact four that comes in well under the RB and JZ inline sixes, so it keeps mass off the front axle in an S-chassis. That's part of why it's such a popular choice for drift cars.
What You Get With Each SR20DET Engine
Every SR20DET we sell comes with the essentials for a proper swap. That typically includes the factory turbo, ECU and wiring harness. Some units also include the transmission, so check the individual product page for exact details.
Swap or Direct Replacement?
Some customers need a direct replacement for a tired engine. Others are planning a full swap, like an SR20DET into a US-spec 240SX or an RB into an S-chassis. We handle both.
A direct replacement gets you back on the road without changing your wiring or mounts. A swap usually needs extra parts — mounts, wiring, ECU and often a matching gearbox. New to this? Start with our step-by-step JDM engine swap guide.
We also stock Nissan transmissions and JDM exterior parts, including S14 240SX doors and rear bumpers, so you can finish the build in one order.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much HP does an SR20DET make?
Stock output runs roughly 205 to 250 hp, depending on the year and whether it's a redtop or blacktop. With basic upgrades like a bigger turbo or intake, many owners see noticeably more.
What cars came with the SR20DET?
The Nissan Silvia, 180SX and Pulsar GTiR all came with it from the factory. The US spec 240SX did not, which is why the SR20DET swap is so common in that platform.
Redtop vs blacktop SR20DET, what's the difference?
The redtop is the earlier version, lighter and simpler to tune. The blacktop came later with a larger turbo and generally makes more power stock. Both are solid choices depending on your goals.
What's the difference between an SR20DE and an SR20DET?
The T stands for turbo. The SR20DE is the naturally aspirated version of the same 2.0L block, and the SR20DET adds the factory turbocharger, lower compression pistons and the supporting fuel and cooling hardware. If you want boost out of the box, you want the DET.
Which Nissan engine is best for a 240SX?
The SR20DET is the most popular choice, but the KA24DE is a solid budget option if you already have one, and the RB and VQ swaps are both done regularly. It comes down to budget and how much fabrication you want to take on.
Do you sell Nissan transmissions too?
Yes. Sometimes the gearbox comes attached to the engine, and sometimes it's listed on its own. Check our Nissan transmissions page or call and we'll tell you what's on the shelf.
